Or Is it?
After the excitement of seeing in the New Year and waking up to the reality that we have officially landed on the first day of a new year; I find myself wondering if I am the only person feeling slightly anxious about what this year might bring?
I love a good celebration as much as the next person, the fireworks (thanks to Covid, which we are only able to experience at home, on our TVs), the champagne sparkles, wishing everyone Happy New Year to the sound of Auld Lang Syne.
I love new beginnings and celebrating the promise of what life may bring. l am however overwhelmed by a sense of trepidation and anxiety.
The uncertainty is a trigger and can cause anxiety, and when reflecting on the last year, for so many of us, 2021 was a year we were happy to see the back of, myself included. There were times I had to dig deep to persevere through some challenging times and it often felt like life was operating at a million miles per hour.
Whilst uncertainty has some of us worrying about what the New Year might bring, change can also be a trigger.
So, if you are one of those people who seem to be suffering from a surprising emotion, take a moment, breathe in the good stuff, exhale the emotion that's overwhelming you. Surround yourself with people who add to your peace, and do whatever you need to in order to be okay.
As we set out to write our story for 2022, I am reminded by Melody Beattie in The Journey to the Heart, to...
May this year be filled with memories from your past that you will treasure and that your new journey be filled with moments that fill your heart, nourish your mind and nurture your soul.
xoxo Carla
